Clovers Perform in All-District Honor Band

Clovers Perform in All-District Honor Band
Posted on 11/21/2022
The Indiana Bandmasters Association hosted their 23rd Annual All-District Honor Band involving students from fifteen schools from across Central Southwest Indiana.

This year Northview High School hosted the IBA Central Southwest All-District band. The All-District band is open to 9th through 12th grade band members and provides an excellent opportunity for those students to be recognized for their talents. This year Sam Dorman, Kayla Henderson, and Alayna Oberkrom were selected to participate from Cloverdale High School.

The process for All-District selection begins at each local school where the musicians apply to participate. Those applications and their director’s recommendation are considered when a selection committee sets the group roster. Students who have the honor of participating in the ensemble receive a letter of congratulations and music to practice prior to the event. On Saturday, students arrive and begin to practice together for the first time. Directors from many of the schools involved helped with preparation on that day by rehearsing students in sectionals. Each All-District site has a guest conductor to rehearse the ensemble and to conduct them in a concert on Sunday afternoon. This year’s guest conductor was Dr. Stephen Gage. Dr. Gage is the Interim Director of Bands at Indiana State University. The weekend culminated with a concert performance by the group on Sunday.

Congratulations to Sam, Kayla, and Alayna on an excellent performance. Thank you for your continued effort, time, and dedication to furthering your music education. Keep it up; we are proud of you!
